QPECIALLY developed for the 1-1 application of the Dunlop protective coating, Rubbaseal, the new Bullows L.800 spray gun can be operated by the tyre-inflation type of compressor unit and obviates the need for expensive spray equipment incorporating a pressure-feed container, which was formerly required. Rubbaseal is produced by Dunlop Special Products, Ltd., Fort Dunlop, Birmingham, 24, and the spray gun by Alfred Bullows and Sons, Ltd., Long Street, Walsall, Staffs.
The coating gives protection against corrosion to chassis members, petrol tanks, body panels and so on A small %an, on a 10 h.p. car chassis, can be treated with two gallons of Rubbaseal
weighing 10 lb. and costing E3 3s, 6d. Application -by spray gun takes about three hours, hut this must be preceded by cleaning and descaling, unless the vehicle is new. If necessary. the coating may be applied with an ordinary handbrush, but, generally, the results are not so satisfactory.
The Bullows L.800 gun has an air consumption of only 3I cu. ft. per min. at 30 psi., and can be operated indefinitely by a small garage compressor. A Rubbaseal kit, comprising a gun, reducing valve and length of basing costs £15.
