OUR TOP truck this week is a 2008registered Renault Premium.
02 Trucks, based in Derbyshire, is the vendor of the 58-plate 6x2 tractor. It has a DXill 10.8-litre engine, which produces 450hp and 2,140Nm torque, a 12-speed automated Optidriver+ transmission and a Privilege Sleeper cab.
02 Trucks says the vehicle is one of 19, so it's safe to presume that it's off their own fleet.
The Premium has emerged as a sound product, both mechanically and financially. CMs own used tuck test (CM 6 September 2012), around the two-day Scottish route, saw an identical truck to the one on sale here return 8.11mpg with 5% AdBlue use.
Renault Trucks has pushed the Premium tractor hard in the past few years and, albeit gradually, operators are appreciating its punchy engine and no-nonsense design. It offers good value for money in the used market.
