of two new road transport books published by Roundoak Publishing of Somerset (Operator's Handbook, pages 22/23).
The titles are London's Lorries by Arthur Ingram, described as "a pictorial review of road transport in the capital during the '50s and '60s", and Robson's, the history of the famous name in distribution, by Bob Tuck.
Packed with nostalgia and evocative photographs of lorries from the past, both books will grace the collection of any dedicated transport enthusiast. As bedtime reading they will certainly keep the Hawk awake long after his cocoa night-cap is drained.
And as luck would have CM has a copy of each to give away to readers able to answer these simple questions. LJ Stan Robson started his fleet in 1925 — with what typical vehicle of the era?
Answers on a postcard by 1 February. Readers who want to be added to Roundoak Publishing's mailing list should ring (0823) 662860. Apparently, a history of Wincanton Transport is now in the planning stage. Keep 'em coming.
