Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

I A haulage company has been ordered to pay more than £5,600 compensation for unfair dismissal to a foreman who was sacked after he crashed into the boss's car while driving a truck in the firm's yard.

A Manchester industrial tribunal heard that Mitchell Fox Services dismissed Arthur Fogartaig partly because of his performance during the pre vious year, and partly because he had driven the tractive unit in the yard when he was not qualified to do so, hitting and damaging the car.

The tribunal said that Fog-artaig had only been told once that his work fell short of requirements — and he regularly drove trucks at the premises despite not being allowed to drive them on the road. It said the decision to sack him was based on the fact that he had hit the managing director's car.
