Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

' • Fiat is stepping up its attack on the light commercial market with a van version of the latest Uno supenriini hatchback. It comes with petrol or diesel engines and is due to go on sale in February with "competitive" prices.

The Uno van will displace the Brazilian-built Citivan from Fiat's existing line-up and will form a more effective partnership with the high-roof Fiorino (which itself will also appear in updated form by the summer).

Being derived from the recently facelifted saloon, the Uno van gets the benefit of revised front and rear styling and a new interior. Drivelines also come from the car, with a 43kW (57hp) 1.1-litre petrol and a 43kW (57kW) diesel, each teamed with a five-speed gearbox.

Though not critical in this sector, payload and load volume are understood to be class competitive, while in typical Fiat fashion the prices are likely to undercut its major rivals: expect to pay under £5,500 for the petrol version and under £6,000 for the diesel (both ex-VAT).

Competition is likely to be fierce, however, both from established hatchback van favourites like the Ford Fiesta, Rover Metro, and Peugeot 205, and newcomers like the Vauxhall Novavan and the soon to be launched VW Polo.
