• A quality standard for the manufacture of recovery equipment is being drawn up by the industry's trade body.
The Recovery Equipment Manufacturers and Suppliers Association says it wants to discourage police and motoring organisations from using operators with sub-standard gear. It also wants to persuade oper ators' associations to buy equipment made to strict standards.
REMSA's new chairman, Roger Dyson of Roger Dyson Recovery Systems, says he wants the association to police its members to enforce quality. REMSA was set up two years ago and has a membership of 24 companies.
