Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• How can you spot that your drivers are not taking their declared rest breaks? Just how safe is a commercial vehicle compared with a car or a bicycle? The answers will be revealed to delegates at Commercial Motor's 23rd Fleet Management Conference on Thursday, February 5, under the title 'Profit through Safety'.

The conference, to be held at London's Royal Lancaster Hotel, has attracted an unrivalled panel of speakers, from the academic approach of Dr John Adams of University College London, to the practical one of Bob Adamson of the Lancashire Constabulary, to the experience of Brian Veale of BP and Terry Goldrick of the FTA.

The keynote speaker is roads and traffic minister Peter Bottomley, and conference chairman is John Mather of the National Freight Consortium.

A panel of haulage industry notables, including RHA national chainnan Glyn Samuel, TGWU leader Jack Ashwell and DTp mandarinturned-consultant Reg Dawson will tackle delegates' questions.

Although places are filling up fast, there is still time for intending delegates to book for this, one of the most interesting and stimulating FMCs yet (there's even a court case in the middle of it. . .) Bookings can still be made on the form in this issue, or direct by telephone to Commercial Motor on 01-661 3302 or to Martin Harvell at the conference office on 0730 66561.
