• Halcon Motors of Charfleets Industrial Estate, Canvey Island (0268 685006) is now offering a van rental service to Essex operators.
Halcon expects initial demand to come from local businesses left without transport due to vehicle repairs or breakdowns, as well as from local people carrying out their own removals.
A number of different models are available including car-derived and one-tonne panel vans, along with Luton and dropside-bodied chassis cabs. Halcon is currently charging 2160 a week for the rental of a Luton-bodied Ford Transit with unlimited mileage.
All rates are exclusive of VAT and fuel, but include AA membership with Relay, maintenance, oil and comprehensive insurance. Halcon also provides personal accident insurance free of charge to hirers.
