• Two top civil servants have been appointed by the Department of Transport to oversee current changes in the bus industry.
Patrick Jackson, under
secretary ‘vIrli responsibility for freight and bus licensing, will take charge of tendering for local bus services, research and monitoring of the road transport industry, and sponsorship of the industry.
Tony Goldman, under secretary with responsibility for London's public transport provision, will be in charge of concessionary fares, local authority-owned bus companies and the disposal of National Bus Company subsidiary companies.
Goldman and Jackson replace Patrick Brown, who was promoted to under-secretary of finance on January 5.
