• West Midland traffic comnissioner Ronald Jackson took Lwo West Midland Travel single-deck buses to check that they could pass on a bend in Bickenhill Road, Marston Green. Then he turned down a Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council application to prohibit public service vehicles using the road.
Jackson said that section seven of the 1985 Transport Act prevented him from laying down traffic conditions unless they were needed to prevent danger on the road or to reduce severe traffic congestion.
Service timings would avoid buses meeting on the bend, but even if they did meet he saw no additional danger from WMTs proposed service and so rejected the plea for a ban.
