Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Kirkby Central Group — currently in the process of being bought by Plaxtons — is to buy the Sheffield-based Leyland truck dealer Phillips Trucks Servies. The final price will depend on the result of a year-end audit currently being prepared, although according to Kirkby chairman David Mathews, Kirkby will deploy around 2700,000 to buy and operate PTS.

The purchase marks the first time Kirkby Central has moved away from its close ties with General Motors — Kirkby currently operates two GM/Bedford dealerships in Rotherham and Bolton.

A further truck deal, however, involving the taking up of a new heavy truck franchise is expected to be announced S(XI) for Kirkby at Bolton. Both developments are the result of Bedford pulling out of volume truck production.
