ALL NATIONAL Freight Company subsidiaries will retain their present identities. NFC chairman Sir Robert Lawrence made this pledge on Tuesday at the opening of the Company's Bedford headquarters.

Sir Robert said there was no question of the major reorganisations of National Carriers and Roadline leading to a merger, and pointed out that the move from five London area sites to Bedford is a centralisation exercise only.

NFC says the offices, which were opened by Mayor of Bedford Douglas Bygraves, cost 45 per cent less than the previous accommodation, and the cost per square foot is approximately one third of that in Central London.
