REG SMITH, of Oldham, has been driving buses and coaches for 65 years but as a concession to advancing years he tells me he now works for only three to four hours a day. A glutton for punishment, he has also been reading Commercial Motor for 40 years and adds: "I enjoy every part of it."
Reg offered this unsolicited testimonial when he sent me a note about a 33-year-old Leyland Titan 56-seater formerly owned by Oldham Corporation and now lovingly cared for by John Holmes, a Greater Manchester Transport inpector. It recently won the trophy for the bestpreserved double-decker in an historic commercial vehicle rally in France, making a round trip of 616 miles to do so.
