But the number of doublerck buses in service has fallen )m 34,457 in 1969 to 26,636 in 179 and the total psv in service ls dropped from 73,879 to !,942 in 1979.
The industry employed )8,856 staff for 5,639 operators the end of the period, and :cident figures show that the dustry's safety record has imoved consistently over the 1st decade.
In 1969, 835 psv drivers and ,016 passengers were injured killed, by 1979 the number id fallen to 664 drivers and 10,0 passengers.
