ARRANGEMENTS for the allocation of a limited number of Wes1 German permits to operators who have not yet held a general quota allocation have been announced by the Department of Transport.

A restricted quantity is available for exceptional cases for firms without general quota permits finding it impossible to use either of these self-help schemes.

Such firms may apply on a special form (SNC 81) obtainable from IRFO, setting out their case for exceptional treatment. Completed applications must be received by IRFO at Westgate House, Westgate Road, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, NE1 1TW (Tel: 0632 610031) not later than February 13.

All operators who have demonstrated the need to go to West Germany by using the "self-help" co-operation or road/rail schemes in 1980 have already been offered a general quota allocation for 1981 by the International Road Freighi Office.

A 21 per cent increase in thE UK/West Germany road haulage quota for 1981 —bringing the total to 20,000 permits — wa.5 announced last year.
