Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Janus does not lack daring. In a recent Topic he suggested that "fresh illustrations of the harm caused by lorries may not be as easy to find as some people believe". I believe, indeed I know that examples are easy to find and I thought your readers might like to see some. The photographs* are a small selection from the steady flow of additions to the Civic Trust's collection in the last year or two (photographs in turn selected from a much larger number of press cuttings about the pervasive harm and public disquiet caused by lorries).

TIMOTHY CANTELL, Civic Trust, London SW1

[*Janus writes: "Of the six photographs sent by Mr Centel], four are road accident pictures and a fifth is of a protest demonstration in a Sussex village. Only one, taken after a lorry crashed through the parapet of a railway bridge — and this accident happened over a year ago — shows damage to anything other than vehicles and street furniture. This is exactly my point. It is clear from my Topic that I was referring to harm done. to the environment and not to road accidents in general, the frequency of which regrettably one cannot deny." — Ed]
