THE Yorkshire Traffic Cornrnissioners have granted an application by the South Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive to increase bus fares in theSheffield, Rotherham and Doncaster areas.
The Commissioners, told that the increased fares would yield an additional £1.8m a year but that there would still be a deficit of over £6m at the end of the present year, expressed concern INFT..ther the fare'] increases were high enough, and were told that the South Yorkshire County Council would be approached for grant aid. If this was not fully forthcoming the company would seek further fare increases late this year.
