Conder Engineering Co Ltd., Winchester, Hants. Steel-framed buildings. Portal, braced beam, also Conder Lid and Monitor roofing systems. Maximum single spans 140ft. Conder stress the availability of wide spans, and versatility and cheapness of the Lid roofing system.
Coseley Buildings Ltd., Lanesfield, Wolverhampton. Steel joist portal frames and latticed steel portal frames, the former to 150ft, the latter to 120ft on wide spans. Coseley also offer steel joist crane buildings with spans of up to 60ft, and eaves heights up to 30ft, which may well suit the heavy haulier who does some warehousing.

Maycrete Ltd., Boston Manor Rd., Brentford, Middx. Primarily offering a composite structure of steel principals over reinforced concrete posts, making an economical building and allowing a clear span of up to 160ft. Most warehouses built by Maycrete have very high fire resistance. Using concrete/steel structure is claimed to offer 15 to 20 per cent cost saving over all-concrete.

Precast concrete portals ranging from 16.3-ft to 80tr in a wide variety of roof pitches, with columns up to 25ft or up to 40ft on request.
Of special interest is a 4deg roof beam which is available in spans up to 60ft giving a virtual flat roof appearance. Standard bays are 15ft or 20ft but with the use of valley beams, centres in excess of 20ft may be obtained. Do special one-off jobs including church work.
The choice is wide, but when asking for tenders it is necessary for identical specifications to be issued and exact requirements to be made known. If a firm intends to carry out its own cladding or finishing-off then this should be clearly stated.
