• It is estimated that for the current financial year, the transport undertaking of Newcastle uop Tyne will show a loss of £48,000 compared with a profit of £95,000 anticipated 12 months ago. The deficit for the coming financial year may be £100,000. Dlr. N. Trotter, chairman of the transport committee, states that the bus fare structure may have to be simplified to make one-man bus operation possible and to keep running costs to a minimum. The committee is being asked to order another 30 buses.
