Improved Recess Screws

VERTICAL driving faces in an improved recess form for Phillips screws eliminate the tendency of the screwdriver to he forced out of the recess during driving or removing operations. Screws with the new recess—called Phillips Pozidrivare being made by U.K.N. Screws and Fasteners Ltd., whilst screwdrivers and screwdriver bits to suit them are produced by Stanley Works (G.B.) Ltd.

The Pozidriv recess will eventually become standard on all G.K.N. Phillips screws which will be marketed at the same prices as before. Pozidriv screws are already in use by many manufacturers and it is for production work that the change in design will be of most benefit. Eliminating the tendency for the driver to he forced out of the recess results in no damage to the recess and longer life to screwdrivers and bits. As less. end load on the driver is needed, tightening 'screws is easier and the change in design results in increased head/shank strength of the screws allowing greater driving torques.

Screwdrivers suitable for the Pozidriv recess cannot be used on screws with the old design, but the new recess will accept existing Phillips driers.
