New Simms Branch,: Simms Motor Units Ltd. has taken over Ihe business of Crescent Electrical Repairs, 21 Langstane Place, Aberdeen, and these premises (tel.: Aberdeen 51361) are now operating as a full Simms sales and service branch. Included in the acquisition are other premises at 2(1 High Street, Turriff (tel.: Turriff 2251) and these will be operated as a Simms service. centre under jurisdiction of the Aberdeen branch.
Exhibition: A motorways exhibition will he held at the South Kensington Science Museum, London, S.W.7. between January 29 and April 28, Hours of opening are from 10 am, to 6 p.m. on weekdays and from 230 to 6 p.m. on Sundays, with free admission.
New Company: After nearly three years' experience with P. C. and C. K. Chase Ltd., manufacturers of material handling equipment, COlin Hardie has formed his" own company, Transport and Handling Technical Services Ltd., operating from Grand Buildings, Trafalgar Square, London, W.C.2. In addition to consultancy and public relations work, T. and H.T.S. will act as sales promotion agents for P. C. and C. K. Chase Ltd, and as agents for other equipment.
Internalional Meetings for London: The seventh International Study Week in Traffic Engineering and the 1964 International Road Safety Congress will be held in London next September at the invitation of the A.A., the R.A.C. and the R.S.A.C. The Duke of Edinburgh has agreed to act as patron of both the Study Week and the Congress, which will meet concurrently from September 21 to 26.
Plastic Tanker Trials: With a view to cutting down tare weight, the British American Oil Co. Ltd. is using an experimental semi-trailer tanker with glass-fibre-reinforced plastics tank to deliver petrol and fuel oil in Ontario, Canada. The vehicle to date has covered some 30,000 trouble-free miles. The semitrailer weighs 4-5 tons, compared with about 5-5 tons for an aluminium vehicle of similar capacity.
Self-service Petro/ Station: What is claimed to be the first filling station to be equippetl with self-service pumps in the Home Counties was opened on Monday at Nazeing. Essex. The station handles products of European Petroleum Distributors Ltd.
