THE largest applications published in this week's As and Ds are both in the Metropolitan area. In the first of these E. Goldsmid (1938) Ltd. asks for an A licence to be varied, the application being for 14 vehicles (62t). The other large application, by M. C. Pierce Ltd., of Slough, Bucks, is for a new B licence for 20 tippers to carry road-building and excavating materials to and from pits owned by' R. Costain (Civil Engineering) Ltd. If this application is granted the company will surrender a short-term licence involving 14 vehicles.
