AN unusual product to have come from the Vauxhall factory at Luton is the Vauxhall hoot. This was designed to replace the standard type of walking plaster, and was evolved by disabled men being trained under the Government's rehabilitation scheme at the factory of Vauxhall Motors, Ltd.
One of these boots is shown at a remarkable exhibition, called "And So To Work," which is being held in Oxford Street. London, W.1, until February 1. Employers with liabilities under the Disabled Persons' Quota Scheme should make a point of seeing this exhibition, where disabled persons demonstrate their abilities in many different occupations. Men can be seen operating lathes and drills, and products shown that have been made by disabled men include parts of Bedford lorries and Raybestos clutch and brake facings.
There are also demonstrations of the treatment given to wounded men to help them regain control of injured limbs.
