Brief Information Relating to Certain Single-deck Buses Recently Supplied by Karrier Motors, Ltd.

ONE of those works in which considerable numbers of six-wheeled vehicles have been constructed during recent months is that of Karrier Motors, Ltd., Earlier Works, Huddersfield, and many models of this type have been completed to the orders of passenger-vehicle users, both private and municipal, in different parts of the country.

• In the accompanying illustration we depict two of the latest six-wheeled buses which have been supplied by this company, these having been delivered to Mr. H. B. Harding, of Leek Road, Endon. Mr. Harding has operated Eartier passenger vehicles for a number of years, and his recent purchase of the two 32-seater vehicles referred to will undoubtedly secure the approval of hig passengers by reason of the excellent riding comfort which they give.

The buses are 32-seaters of the frontentrance type, an emergency door being provided at the rear, and the basis of the vehicles is the Karrier C.L.6-type chassis. The driver is positioned at the

of side of the engine which, it should be mentioned, develops 47 h.p. at normal speed and 56 h.p. at the maximum number of revolutions per minute.

• All the seats are of the transverse type, with the exception of those over the rear-wheel arches. They are of the semi-bucket type and. are upholstered with blue antique hide. The, whole of the in

e38 tenor fittings, which include four parcel racks, are nickel-plated.

The question of interior lighting has received special attention, and a 12-volt set is employed. There are nine interior lamps,"whilsi a destination indicator at the front is well illuminated and built into the roof of the vehicle. Drop windows which can be lowered to the full extent are used at the sides, and these, in conjunction with three Airvac ven

tilators in the roof, ensure adequate ventilation for the interior.

The two vehicles are finished in royal blue and white and are equipped with 34-in. by 7-in, pneumatic tyres.

The sametype of chassis is also used for the other Karrier six-wheeler which we illustrate, this being one of a fleet of five vehicles supplied a few weeks ago to Messrs. 0. and O. Holdsworth, the proprietors of the Ribble Bus Services, with headquarters at Halifax.

This is also a 32-seater, and the body is the product of Davidson (Trafford Park), Ltd., of Manchester. The passengers' entrance is at the front end of the near side, whilst there is an emergency door at the rear. All the seats are of the _semi-bucket type and are upholstered in leather of a shade w.hiclr harmonizes with the colour scheme of the vehicle, this being of brown. and cream.

This type of vehicle is capable of maintaining high average speeds, and the -vehicles which Messrs. Flotelsvorth have put into service have already made a strong appeal to the travelling public in Halifax and district by reason of the rapid and smooth running which they provide.
