FAMILY-RUN FIRM Ken Mallinson & Sons has beaten off stiff competition to be named secondary carrier of the year by supermarket giant Asda.
The South Yorkshire haulier, which operates a 15-strong fleet from the retailer’s Doncaster depot handling ambient goods, was awarded the prestigious title at the Asda National Carrier of the Year Awards last week in Leeds. It beat finalists Dee Set and NFT.
Asda head of ambient distribution George McKerracher says: “Ken Mallinson stood out as a firm that provided great flexibility and helped other depots during the severe December weather conditions.” Ian Egan, business development manager at Ken Mallinson, tells CM: “This is good for the company. We were up against big competitors, but have been singled out for our strong service and quick reaction times. I am hopeful we can win more work on the back of this.” NFT won the award for outstanding service provider.
