Manufacturers should be able to guide you, but the main legislation includes: • PUWER: The Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998, which apply to all work equipment in the UK, and can therefore pertain to cranes; • LOUR The Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998, which put the onus on operators, with specific reference to lorry-mounted cranes;
• The Health & Safety At Work Act 1974, which includes employers' obligations to ensure their employees' safety at all times; • The Management of Health & Safety at Work Regulations 1992, which include legislation covering training of personnel.
