THE FREIGHT Transp, Association has sever, criticised the Road Haulz Association's Conditions Carriage, saying there sho be greater freedom of contr between customer and carr In a submission to the Off of Fair Trading, currently vestigating the Conditions, t FTA has said there should less avoidance of respo sibility and ability by the 0 rier and more protection i the trader.
The ETA claims the Con tions should reflect "a reasc able balance of responsibilit and duties between the carr and his customer."
In the view of the ETA, t carrier, as the seller of the 9 vice, should carry the goods the named consignee saft and promptly.
He should accept respo sibility for any failure to do including all acts of negligen or misconduct by his servar and/or agents.
At the moment, the Fl sees the Conditions in ti respect as unreasonable.
