MOTORWAY-type crash bai riers have been fitted as extr body protection in the event c accidents to three Cran Fruehauf chemical tankers.
The barriers, which ar three millimetres (0.12 in) thic and 618mm (24in) deep an weighing around half a tor are covered with aluminiur cladding.
Stainless steel has been use for the tank body itself and the exterior cladding, the space between them being insulated with 76mm (3in) of glass fibre.
Operated by Staveley Chemicals Ltd, the 10,200 litre (2,250ga1) capacity tankers will carry fuming sulphuric acid.
Norde tandem axle 'Featherbed' suspension is fitted.
