Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

BASED on calcium chloride and sold in pellet form, a new product to dispose of snow and ice is now being introduced into the UK from the United States, where it is manufactured by J Chemicals, New York.

Called Dissolve, it is being marketed in Britain by the European Franchise Agency Ltd. It has already proved its value on football pitches in Scotland, but there are obvious additional opportunities on roads, service station forecourts, car parks and haulage depots.

To clear paths, forecourts and similar surfaces the product is simply sprinkled by hand. The chemicals set up a moistureabsorbing action which generates heat.

For stretches of roadway it is suggested that stocks of abrasive materials (sand, limestone, stone chips) are pre-treated with Dissolve. The amount needed depends largely on the conditions. The essential element is moisture, but dry frosts are rare in this country.

Non-toxic and non-corrosive, the product is at present being marketed in 25 lb. containers and 100 lb. drums. Future marketing plans include 5 lb. bags.

Marketed by: European Franchise Agency Ltd., 12 Adeline Place, London WC1.
