Midland Tires.

The Midland Rubber Co., Ltd., has opened a new depot at 12, Great Brunswick Street, Dublin, under the charge of Mr. R. W. Palmer, its •travelling representative in Ireland, and the same cornpa.nythas appointed Mr. F. Merrick Cowley its representative for solid band tires in Yorkshire and Lancashire.

An Edinburgh Dividend.

The Scottish Motor Traction Co., Ltd., of Edinburgh, has again had a successful year. It is one of the oldest dividend-paying transport undertakings in the history of motoring. The dividend for 1915 is at 'the rate of 74 per cent, per annum, free of income tax, with a carry-forward of £2119. We congratulate the general manager, Mr. W. J. Thomson, and his associates, on the continued good results.

Drivers Wanted for Active Service Ambulance Work, Mr. R. J. Smith, of the Transport Committee of the Scottish Branch of the British Red Cross Society, is making an appeal for a number o? relief drivers and drivers in connection with a motor ambulance convoy of 20 wagons, which his organization equipped and presented to the French Army.

Applicants must be over 41 years of ago, have some knowledge of the French language, and, of course, driving experience, and a fair amount of mechanical knowledge. A subsistence allowance of 5 francs per day is made in each case. Application should be made to Mr. R. J. Smith, 163, West George Street, Glasgow.

We are in receipt of a handsome booklet. of some fifty pages, issued by Halley's Industrial Motors, Ltd., Yoker, Glasgow, and entitled " Halley. History." The growth of the Halley undertaking, from the year 1901 to date, is traced in interesting fashion, and without any labouring. One is reminded that Mr. George H. Halley, the managing director, devoted the first few years of his motor activities to the construction of steam wagons, but it cannot. be denied that the cornpany;.s rapid progress dates from a short time after Mr. Halley's conversion to the claims of the internal-cornbusion engine. The booklet is illustrated in an attractive way, so as to convey interesting facts concerning the works and the details of the company's chassis. A copy will be mailed, free of charge, to any inquirers who write to the company at the above address, provide-they are seriously considering the matter of purchasing industrial motor vehicles.
