• The Freight Transport Association is urging hauliers to lobby their MPs against the fuel duty escalator in advance of next March's Budget. The FTA is stressing the Chancellor's intentions to add 6% on top of inflation to all fuel and an additional lp per litre to the cost of diesel. Increases in fuel duty last year alone added e560m to freight transport costs, it says.
In association with CM, the FTA has now produced a pocket card (see this issue) setting out the facts and calling on hauliers to write direct to their MPs or fax comments to the FTA on 01892 534989 for forwarding.
