• Encouraged by the interest shown in one-man-operated gulley emptiers by municipal authorities, Whale Tankers has uprated its MonoWhale street servicing demonstrator.
The vehicle is based on a lefthand-drive Volvo FL614 with a high-pressure street washer and gutter flushing system controlled from the cab; pneumatic grid lifter; hydraulic rear door clamps and kerbside PT-0 engagement.
A moving water/muck division in its 6,3601it (1,400gal) tank gives the 14-tonner the sludge carrying capability of a larger rigid. It is designed to allow operators to wash streets and service drainage from a kerbside work station; cost is around £60,000.
