• After nearly a month's negotiating since its first announcement, the 16m merger between Purle Bros, waste specialists, and the Redland Group (CM November 12) was agreed last week. Ready Mixed Concrete has withdrawn its proposed bid for Redland.
• The commercial vehicle department of Oliver Rix Garages, based on Hills Road, Cambridge, is now completing delivery on a £50,000 order for six petrol tankers to the Russian petrol company of Nafta (Gt Britain) Ltd, of London.
