THE postponed increases in London JTransport fares are now to take place on Sunday, January 16, 1966, announced LTB last Thursday, following a statement by Mr. Tom Fraser in the House of Commons. The new fares are expected to increase London Transport's revenue in 1966 by about £5m.— insufficient by a considerable margin to mable the Board to meet all its commitments, including interest charges, for the year.

Fares to disappear are the 6d. and 10d. for LI and 2i miles, respectively. The Is. 2d. fare for four miles is being increased by id., the is. 4d. (five miles) by 2d. and fares for all longer distances of six miles and upwards by 3d. Minimum fare remains 4d. (one mile), followed by 8d. (two miles) and Is. (24. miles).

Green Line fares will generally be increased by 3d. in a similar manner to those on the buses for comparable distance subject to the minimum fares.
