It shows illustrations of damaged radiators and lamps before and after repair. Every kind of radiator repair is covered, whether it is damaged, leaking, furred, or choked, whilst dented or battered lamps can be effectively repaired.

Another Mileage Recorder.

For the purpose of registering permanent and reliable records of the performance of commercial vehicles. Markt and Co. (London), Ltd., 98-100, Clerkenwell Road, London, E.G., has recently placed on the market a neat device known as the Knopf hub-recorder.

The device operates on the principle of gravitation, and the use of flexible shafting and cables is dispensed with altogether. The instrument records every movement of the vehicle inasmuch as it shows the time it leaves the garage, the number of miles covered, the number and duration of all stops, whilst the speed and total mileage are also registered. This useful accessory is circular in shape, having a diameter of about 3 ins, and a depth of 2+ ins. It fits over the hub-cap and is screwed to the wheel-spokes. All the mechanism is enclosed in a dust-tight and waterproof cover, and a patent locking-system is embodied which prevents any unauthorized person's tampering with the mechanism of the instrument.

BI2 Cast-Aluminium Headlamps.

Although at the present time it has been found expedient to reduce the glare of headlamps generally, it is still evident that many makers are paying increasing attention to the question of obtaining a satisfactory and efficient lighting system for industrial machines.

One of the firms who have directed their attention to this question is that of the well-known lamp manufacturers and lighting engineer, J. T. Williams and Co., 344-348, Newtown Road, Birmingham. We reproduce herewith several representative illustrations of this firm's head and tail lamps. In the largest of the lamps the acetylene projector has a 9-in, front and is fitted with a genuine Mangin lens-mirror. In this particular model, the makers have adopted the method of hinging the front of the lamp at the top, which was a suggestion offered by a large railway company which uses these lamps to a great extent on the vehicles which it operates. A special point with this lamp is the finger-nut fastening which is provided to take up any wear should it be found necessary. The second lamp in the illustration has an electric projector fitted with a 5-in. dioptric lens. This model has a white-metal reflector at the back of the burner ; alternatively, however, it can be supplied with a Mangin lens-mirror and a plain glass in the front. This model is largely used as a side lamp.

The other lamps in the illustration which we include are of Williams and Co.'s square pattern, which is proving very useful as a side or tail lamp. This particular model is made up in pairs: if used as side lamps they are supplied with white lenses and a ruby reflector at the back, but if they are intended for use as tail lamps, a large ruby lens and a small white lens can be fitted,. Although only a small lamp, this model is particularly useful as a side lamp, because of the double right-angle beams which are reflected, which arrangement offers certain advantages. This firm's lamps are all of exceptionally strong build, and the makers claim that they will stand up against hard wear and the roughest of usage. •
