It follows changes in the law regarding corporate manslaughter and is aimed at giving peace of mind to operators. The inspections will help ensure best practice and maximise the efficiency of fork-lift use.
The Lift Truck Auditing Service will be launched next month through the FTA's Vehicle Inspection Service.
The FM says the idea was drawn up after wide-ranging consultation and a successful pilot study.
