• Operational trials of Foden's new 17-tonne truck are proceeding apace, prompting speculation that the vehicle may be launched in time for November's Scottish Motor Show.
The Cummins B Seriespowered truck offers a body and payload capacity of around 12.135 tonnes on a 5.8m wheelbase.
Long-established Foden operator Jefferies of Otley has operated one of the new trucks on trial for four months. It replaces a 6x 4 R-registered curtainsider withdrawn from service almost a year ago.
Reg Jefferies says he is pleased with the payload of the narrow-cabbed truck which is fitted with an Eaton 4106 gearbox and a Rockwell drive axle.
The Foden is expected to compete against ERF's ES6 17-tonner which has proved particularly popular with hauliers in rural areas.
