Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Austin Rover has increased the price of its Maestro van.

The list price of the base model, the 1.3 500 City, is now 25,911.30, while the top of the range 2.0 700L Diesel rises to 27,328.70. The most dramatic increase is borne by the 2.0 500 City Diesel, with a 5.6% price increase. Prices of the Metro 310 van remain unchanged.

Accidents up

• Accidents at automatic level crossings have doubled over the past four years, according to Department of Transport figures.

Experts can find few links between the accidents, except that almost all are caused by drivers either misreading or simply ignoring the flashing red lights which warn of an approaching train.
