• Lack of interest has forced the Road Haulage Association to shelve plans to offer a computerised load matching system to international members.
The trade association was considering becoming the first UK representative for the European Road Transport Information Service.
However, RHA international group manager Nick Barnes says the association's 1,000 international members "did not show substantial support for the scheme".
He adds: "The idea may be shelved but it is not forgotten. Maybe the time will come when hauliers are convinced about the system's benefits."
The RHA set up a similar VDU load link system more than five years ago called Cargo Link but was forced to sell the operation owing to lack of operator interest.
