Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• The ATS Supertnick Trophy Race held at Silverstone last weekend, was a battle of the giants, with Steve Parrish finally taking the chequered flag after a long tussle with Hans Georg Marwitz.

German racer Marwitz Led for the first half of the race, overtaking Richard Walker, who started off in pole position, before his windscreen shattered on the first lap.

Parrish followed closely behind in his Mercedes-Benz 1750S, which had overheated in earlier races. During the sixth lap Parrish surged forward, using his 373 plus kW (500hp) to beat Marwitz into Stowe Corner and pull away from the less powerful MAN.

By the eighth lap Parrish was way ahead, and waltzed home, four seconds in the lead of Marwitz, quashing sceptics' criticisms that his tyres would shred under the stress of the truck's power.

George Allen and Swedish Curt Goransson scrapped throughout the race, with Goransson taking the lead by the fifth lap and securing third place and Allen running fourth.

Richard Walker was allowed to continue the race, despite his smashed screen and recovered to fifth place in his American Century Kenworth.
