Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Recent comments in our letters page have cast doubt on the desirabiity of a Lada. However, in Russia, demand for the vehicles is so great there is a five-year waiting list.

Jvibiaf Rimanthas, a lorry driver from Kanuas, Lithuania. became so desperate to get his Lada, that he flew to Britain to buy one secondhand. With his aunt along to translate. Rimanthas found a W-reg Lada in the Midlands for £725. He got AA insurance cover for 30 days (E113) and is currently travelling with his aunt on the 2,250km drive home.

Lada (UK) estimates that Rimanthas could make a considerable profit on the car despite the cost of the trip. Apparently, good condition Ladas in the Soviet Union can fetch up to £10,000 because people are so keen to get a car. • Last week the Hawk set out to test the RAC's newlyinstalled in-cab communications system at Stockport.

As soon as the whereabouts of our distressed victim appeared on the special screen, we screeched off to the rescue, only to find (five minutes later) a Marina stranded with broken windscreen wipers. It wasn't even raining!
