• Prestatyn magistrates fined St Helens-based Jennings Haulage 2500 for a 3% overload. The driver of the vehicle concerned, Stephen Williams, was given an absolute discharge.

The company and Williams had denied exceeding the train weight of a 38tonne artic carrying breeze blocks from Wrexham last December.

Evidence was given that when the vehicle was stopped in a weight check at Rhuddlan on 7 December, i was found to weigh 39,470kg, an overload of some 3%.
