The Guernsey Railway Co hit on scheme 87 years ago that London Transport might hay welcomed in the past few years. Within three days of e introduction of electric trams in Guernsey all had failed and the old steam trams had to come to the rescue.

The conductor had to leap from one vehicle to the other to collect fares — a circus performance without a safety net that caused the inevitable casualties.
