• New qualifications for membership to the Road Haulage Association's heavy haulage and machinery carriers' group have been accepted at an extraordinary general meeting of the Association. At the same time it was agreed that the title of the Group should be shortened to the heavy haulage group.
Membership is now open to anyone: — (I) Using vehicles designed to operate specifically under the Special Types General Order and which cannot work under the Construction and Use Regulations.
(2) Operating vehicles which comply with the C and U Regulations but are frequently engaged on traffic bringing their gross train weights above the permitted maximum under those Regulations, thereby necessitating operation under the general order.
(3) Who can satisfy the committee at an interview that he regularly handles traffic requiring statutory notification to police for width or length under the C and U Regs,tations.
