Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Trebled output is expected from a 35,000 sqft. factory, claimed to be the first tarpaulin plant to be built in Britain for 30 years, which was recently officially opened by J. H. Peck (Wigan) LW.

Mr John Stuart, managing director of the Wigan company, said the need for increased capacity, including a demand for PVCcoated tarpaulins, had made it essential to provide modern premises where there would be the space to handle all varieties of this product and particularly the increasingly necessary larger sizes.

Production processes in the 31,000 sq.ft. manufacturing section have been streamlined so far as possible right from the arrival of the material to final dispatch. The layout includes two under-cover loading bays and undercover dispatch point. Materials employed include cotton, cotton/linen mixtures, flax, jute, PVC-coated cotton and nylon, and Terylene/nylon.

A tarpaulin repair department is incornorated in the new premises; other repair Jepots are situated at Glasgow and Worcester.
