Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Last week the Goodyear Tyre and Rubber Co (Great Britain) Ltd, introduced a new vanand truck-size radial tyre. Already well known and accepted in car sizes, the new tyre is called the G800 and features the same constructional details as the smaller version. Goodyear has had the tyre on trial some three years. Nylon cord is laid I radially in multi-plies to form the carca: This is said to give the same free-roll qualities as those claimed for steel-co construction, but without the same w deflection. The reduction in wall deflection said to reduce the amount of wall dama suffered by the tyre and to cancel out t need for extra-large offset wheels to provi adequate clearance between twins.

A multi-ply steel belt is laid in the tre area, bracing the tread and reduci puncture risk. The steel belt is also claim to reduce the amount of tread distortion a cause more of the useful contact at between tyre and road to assume the b attitude for maximum grip under adve: weather conditions. The tyre is appro mately eight per cent lighter than conventional radial steel-cord cover of same size and capacity.

In the 9.00-20 size, the G800 is alrea on the market but the smaller 8.25-20 a 16in. rim sizes will be available shortly. 1 G800 tyres cost the same as other types tyres of the same sizes.
