THE third symposium in the " Advances Automobile Engineering" series is being held on July 8 and 9 by the Advanced School of Automobile Engineering at Cranfield, Bedfordshire. Eight papers will be presented, under the general title of "Noise and Vibration". and will include investigation of riding comfort, engine combustion noise, structure resonances and aerodynamic noise.
The registration fee is 15, overnight accommodation costs Li 5s. and an informal dinner (at which the guest speaker will be Mr. John Beswick chief executiye of the S.M.M.T.) will carry a charge of 1.1 15s. The symposium secretary is Mr, G. H. Tidbury, and the postal address of the school is Cranfield, Bletchley, Bucks.
V.B.R.A. Conference CONSIDERATION of minimum standards for membership, the drafting of standards for entry and the proposal to raise the subscription rate to iS 8s. are among the topics down for discussion at the annual conference and a.g.m. of the Vehicle Builders' and Repairers' Association. This is on May 11-14 at Newquay.
