POLICE ARE hunting a man who attacked a truck driver with a knife as a gang broke into his trailer.

The incident happened at around Sam last Saturday (11 September) on the Frogrnore Trading Estate in Grays, Essex. The driver was asleep in his cab when he was woken by four men trying to steal two boxes from the back of his trailer. He confronted the gang and one man attacked him with a Stanley-type knife. The four men then escaped in a red Ford Transit.

An Essex police spokeswoman says: "The driver is being treated in Basildon Hospital but his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening. The knifeman is described as aged 19, 5ft 10in, of slim build and wearing dark trousers and white sweatshirt. Any witnesses should contact us immediately."
