Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

In CV/19-25 August you refer to "the wrong kind of snow" as an implausible excuse by BR As the quality of snow in question has I believe, only fallen in Kent twice in the past 40 years, it is hardly surprising that BR rolling stock designers did not take it into consideration. Normally our usual kind of snow is much wetter than this, so the extremely dry snow was "the wrung kind of snow" for the traineven if it was what any skier longs for.

Dennis was first with four valves

Dul'ngthe past week fullpage advertisements appeared in the national press by a well-known German car manufacturer stating "The World's first four-valve diesel

engine". This I believe is incorrect.

During the period of 194050 Dennis Bros of Guildford produced a 6.8 ton truck called the MAX chassis. This vehicle was available with petrol or diesel engine options, the diesel option was four valves per cylinder. I have sales brochures on this model in my possession.

During my National Service days, like many others, during 1950 we had around 200 of these trucks with the British Army in the Canal zone of Egypt. As well as many other excellent trucks in the zone such as Leyland Hippos and of course many hundreds of our workhorse fleet were the famous Bedford OY.

Half price or oneway crossing?

ncompliments on your erry Guide '93 part two

report which made most interesting reading (CM2-8 September).

However, while I would be the first to agree that Stew. Sealink certainly offers value for money even I w-as surprised to read myself quoted as offering a return crossing for around £300!

This in fact reflects a single crossing rate: you can imagine the disappointment I have caused when responding to the the inquiries that have followed,
