• Disciplinary proceedings involving Tonyrefailbased Ronald Latcham have been adjourned for a month while the operator decides whether to continue with a standard national licence or seek to change to a restricted class of licence.
Latcham, who trades as Latcham & Son, appeared before South Wales Deputy Traffic Commissioner Gerrard Sullivan at a Cardiff public inquiry.
For Latcham, Norman LloydEdwards said there were two problems. There had been prohibition notices issued for overloading and a defective tyre, and the nominated CPC holder had resigned last November.
He claimed that Latcham remained within the law, as the vehicles had operated on private land since November.
He did not want to surrender his licence. He has a new CPC holder in mind and if that person agreed to take on the role, Latcham would want to continue with a standard licence. If not, application would be made for a restricted licence.
